Foo Lions are traditionally displayed in pairs. The male holds a sphere under his paw, symbolizing dominion over the world, while the female protects a cub, representing care and the continuity of the family. Considered auspicious talismans, Foo Lions are believed to ward off evil spirits and bring prosperity. Over time, their common name has shifted from "Foo Lions" to "Foo Dogs."
